Located in the heart of Friendsville and just a short drive from Deep Creek Lake, Aster & Press was created to be a little different from the typical gift shop. Our shelves are thoughtfully curated, our flowers are designed right here in the shop, and we want this to be a space that feels just as welcoming to our neighbors as it does to visitors discovering Garrett County.

Aster & Press is home to Wild Aster Floral, our in-house floral studio offering fresh, seasonally inspired flowers for everyday moments, celebrations, sympathy, weddings, and events.

Our arrangements are designed with an emphasis on color, texture, movement, and the natural character of the flowers themselves. Rather than creating the exact same arrangement over and over, we work with the best flowers available to create designs that feel fresh and unique.

Alongside our flowers and books, Aster & Press features a rotating collection of goods from local and regional makers, artists, and small businesses.

Expect an evolving mix of handmade and thoughtfully selected items, gifts, art, paper goods, home accents, and other interesting finds.

You won't find shelves packed with generic souvenirs just because we're near the lake. Instead, we're creating a collection that feels like Aster & Press: creative, beautiful, useful, sometimes unexpected, and worth discovering.

A Place to Stay Awhile

Aster & Press isn't meant to be a place where you have to buy something and immediately head for the door.

Grab a seat by the window. Bring your laptop. Meet a friend. Flip through a book. Work on something creative. Have a cup of coffee while you browse.

We're creating a comfortable little corner of Friendsville where people can spend some time without feeling rushed.

We'll have complimentary coffee available for our guests, with donations appreciated, but we're not a café. Think of it more like visiting a really good library, bookstore, flower shop, and neighborhood gathering space all rolled into one.

Over time, we hope to add workshops, creative gatherings, and other reasons to come together.

Through Wild Aster Floral, we provide custom floral design for weddings, elopements, celebrations, memorials, and events throughout Deep Creek Lake, Garrett County, and surrounding areas.

From a single bridal bouquet to full wedding florals, we work with each client to create flowers that feel personal to the occasion.

We especially love designs with personality, whether that means timeless whites and greens, overflowing garden-inspired flowers, bold color, wild textures, or something beautifully dark and moody.​

Aster & Press is locally owned and intentionally small.

Friendsville may not be the biggest town, but that's part of what we love about it. We wanted to create the kind of shop we'd be excited to stumble across ourselves: a place filled with flowers, books, beautiful things, interesting finds, and people who are happy you walked through the door.

We're proud to call Friendsville home and to be part of the community here in western Garrett County.

We're also conveniently located for visitors staying around Deep Creek Lake, McHenry, Accident, Grantsville, Oakland, and the surrounding mountains of Western Maryland.
