Wild Aster Floral Design
Wedding & Event Floral FAQ
Planning wedding flowers should be one of the fun parts of planning your day. At Wild Aster Floral, we create wedding flowers that feel personal, intentional, and true to your style, whether you're dreaming of something colorful and garden-inspired, soft and romantic, wild and whimsical, or dark and moody.
We're based in Friendsville, Maryland and serve weddings throughout the Deep Creek Lake and Garrett County area, as well as select events beyond our standard service area.
Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often.
How far in advance should we book our wedding flowers?
We recommend reaching out as soon as you have your wedding date and venue secured. For larger weddings and popular dates, booking 6 to 12 months in advance is ideal.
That said, don't hesitate to contact us if your wedding is coming up sooner. If we have your date available, we'd love to see what we can do.
Do you have a minimum wedding budget?
We offer options for a variety of wedding sizes and budgets, including smaller celebrations and intimate weddings.
Our wedding floral packages begin at $300 for a bridal bouquet and boutonniere, with additional personal flowers, ceremony flowers, centerpieces, installations, and other designs available depending on your needs.
If you're working within a specific budget, tell us! We can help you decide where flowers will have the biggest impact.
Do you offer custom wedding flowers?
Absolutely.
Every wedding is different, and we love creating florals that reflect the couple rather than recreating the same designs over and over.
We'll talk about your colors, venue, season, inspiration, priorities, and budget and use those details to develop a floral direction specifically for your wedding.
Can I send you inspiration photos?
Please do!
Pinterest boards, Instagram posts, screenshots, color palettes, fabric swatches, invitations, dresses, venue photos, and even images that simply capture the feeling you want are all helpful.
We use inspiration as a starting point rather than a blueprint. Flowers are seasonal and naturally unique, so we won't promise an exact copy of another florist's work. Instead, we'll use your inspiration to understand the colors, textures, shape, and overall feeling you love.
Can I request specific flowers?
Yes, and we'll always take your favorites into consideration.
However, flower availability can vary depending on the season, weather, growing conditions, and our wholesalers and growers. For that reason, we cannot guarantee every specific flower variety.
We typically recommend focusing on your overall color palette and style and allowing us some creative flexibility to select the best flowers available for your date.
Do you work with colorful or nontraditional wedding palettes?
Yes, please!
We love color, texture, unusual combinations, garden-inspired designs, moody palettes, and weddings that feel a little different.
We also love timeless whites and greens, soft romantic palettes, and classic floral designs. Your wedding flowers should feel like you, not like something you chose because you thought you were supposed to.
Do you offer locally grown or seasonal flowers?
Whenever possible, we love incorporating seasonal and locally grown flowers into our designs.
Availability depends on the time of year and what our local growers have available, so we may combine locally grown flowers with blooms sourced through our trusted wholesalers.
Seasonality is an important part of our design process and often gives wedding flowers their most beautiful and distinctive character.
Do you deliver wedding flowers?
Yes.
Wedding delivery is available for an additional fee based on the venue location and the size and complexity of the order.
We also offer pickup options for couples who prefer to collect their flowers from Wild Aster Floral in Friendsville.
Do you offer setup and breakdown?
Yes. Setup and breakdown can be added depending on your wedding needs.
For weddings involving arches, installations, large arrangements, or multiple ceremony and reception spaces, we'll discuss setup requirements when preparing your proposal.
Breakdown and retrieval of rental items can also be arranged when needed.
Do you provide flowers for wedding arches and installations?
Yes!
We can design florals for arches, arbors, ceremony structures, welcome signs, mantels, staircases, sweetheart tables, and other statement areas.
Installation pricing varies based on the design, flower quantity, mechanics, venue requirements, setup time, and whether the structure is provided by you, the venue, or Wild Aster.
Can ceremony flowers be reused at the reception?
Often, yes, and we love finding ways to make your flowers work harder for you.
For example, aisle arrangements may be moved to the reception, ceremony arrangements may be repurposed near the sweetheart table, and certain floral pieces can sometimes serve more than one purpose.
We'll let you know which designs can realistically be repurposed without compromising their appearance or disrupting your timeline.
What happens during the consultation?
Our initial consultation is a chance for us to get to know you and hear what you're envisioning.
We'll talk about your wedding date, venue, guest count, wedding party, color palette, inspiration, floral needs, priorities, and approximate budget.
Consultations can be held virtually or in person, depending on your location and schedule.
Afterward, we'll put together recommendations and pricing based on what we've discussed.
How do we reserve our wedding date?
Once you're ready to move forward, we'll provide a floral agreement outlining your services, pricing, payment schedule, and policies.
A 25% deposit and signed agreement are required to officially reserve your wedding date.
Your date is not considered booked until both have been received.
When is our final payment due?
The remaining balance is due 30 days before your wedding.
This allows us to finalize flower orders, quantities, supplies, rentals, and the other details needed to bring your designs together.
Can we make changes after booking?
Of course. Wedding plans evolve!
Design changes can generally be made until 60 days before your wedding, subject to flower availability and any materials or products that have already been ordered.
We'll work with you throughout the planning process to keep your floral plan aligned with your wedding.
What happens if we need to cancel?
Your wedding agreement will include the complete cancellation and refund policy.
Generally, deposits may be refundable when a wedding is cancelled more than 90 days in advance, less a $150 planning fee and any non-recoverable expenses already incurred for your event.
Because flowers and specialty materials are ordered specifically for each wedding, cancellation terms become more restrictive as the wedding date approaches.
What happens to vases and other reusable items after the wedding?
In general, our pricing includes all vases or vessels. This allows your guests to take arrangements home, or for you to repurpose them how you choose.
Some vessels, structures, and design mechanics may be rentals and will need to be returned after the event.
We'll clearly identify any rental items in your proposal.
For smaller reusable items that you do not want to keep, we offer a free return drop-off option so you don't have to pay for us to come back solely to collect them. Items returned in this way will be considered a donation unless otherwise specified.
Do you only do weddings at Deep Creek Lake?
No!
Wild Aster Floral is based in Friendsville and serves weddings throughout Deep Creek Lake, Garrett County, and surrounding areas.
For venues farther away, contact us with your wedding date and location. Travel may be available for an additional fee depending on our schedule and the scope of your wedding.
How do we get started?
Start by sending us a wedding inquiry with your date, venue, estimated guest count, approximate floral budget, and a little about what you're envisioning.
Don't worry if you don't know exactly what flowers you want yet. That's what we're here for.
We'll help you turn your ideas, colors, and inspiration into flowers that feel completely at home on your wedding day.
Let's create something beautiful together.
