If you’re new here, you may be wondering where the name Wild Aster Floral came from, and why you may also be seeing the name Aster & Press.
A lot of people have been curious and have asked, so I thought I’d share the story behind the name and how the two are connected.
Where “Wild Aster” Came From
When I started thinking about creating a floral business, I wanted a name that felt connected to flowers, nature, and the place where I’m building this business.
I’m originally from Oregon, but Garrett County has become home for me, and one of the things I love most about this area is its natural landscape. The forests, fields, changing seasons, and wildflowers are a constant source of inspiration.
That is where the aster comes in.
Asters are native to Garrett County, and I loved the idea of naming the business after a flower that is naturally part of the landscape here. They are beautiful without being overly fussy, and they have that slightly wild, garden-grown quality that I’m naturally drawn to.
Adding “Wild” felt like an even better fit. I love flowers that have movement, texture, and a sense of being gathered rather than perfectly manufactured. I want my floral designs to feel natural, seasonal, and a little unexpected.
So Wild Aster Floral became the name.
It felt like a small connection between the flowers I love, the way I like to design, and the place where I’m putting down roots.
So Where Does Aster & Press Come In?
If you have recently discovered Wild Aster Floral, you may also see me talking about Aster & Press.
Aster & Press is my new storefront in Friendsville, where Wild Aster Floral will have a home alongside books, local art, gifts, and other interesting finds.
I wanted the space to be more than a traditional flower shop. I’ve always loved flowers, books, beautiful objects, and creative work, and Aster & Press gives me a chance to bring all of those things together in one place.
The Aster in Aster & Press is a direct connection to Wild Aster Floral.
The Press is a nod to my love of books, paper, typography, and the feeling of an old-fashioned shop where you can wander around and discover something you weren’t necessarily looking for (also, coffee!)

Two Names, One Story
Wild Aster Floral and Aster & Press are both new ventures, and I’m really excited to be building them here in the community.
Wild Aster Floral is the floral side of the business, with everyday arrangements, weddings, events, custom designs, and seasonal flowers.
Aster & Press is the storefront where the flowers get to share space with books, art, local makers, and all of the little things that make a place feel special.
So if you’re new here, welcome! I’m so glad you’re here at the beginning of this new chapter.
And now, when you see Wild Aster Floral and Aster & Press, you’ll know why they share a name and why they are, in many ways, two parts of the same story.
